Ramirez, 28, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; died Feb. 21 at Marine Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif., after being medically evacuated following a nonhostile incident in Al Qaim, Iraq, on Dec. 21, 2006. The incident is currently under investigation. The announcement surrounding his death was delayed due to an administrative adjustment to his original death classification.
